Ultrafiltration of Oily Effluent to Meet New Standards
May 9, 2024Car manufacturing facilities require ultra-pure water in the painting process. In this project, the source of water was Austin Water, the water authority for the city of Austin, Texas, and surrounding area. The car manufacturer required a flowrate of 1,000 gallons-per-minute to meet its needs. Kleinfelder Water Technologies engineered and delivered a system featuring double-pass reverse osmosis (RO) as the primary technology to achieve the desired water quality. A holistic solution was tailored to the client’s needs, encompassing ancillary equipment, storage tanks, redundancy measures, and seamless integration between various system components. Collaborating closely with vendor-partners, Kleinfelder confirmed that all supplied components were free from paint wetting impairment substances (PWIS). Kleinfelder’s team leveraged its expertise by deploying a dedicated BIM modeling team to facilitate the development of piping and equipment layouts. By generating comprehensive drawings early in the project timeline, Kleinfelder was able to expedite the procurement process for critical, long-lead items, thereby streamlining the overall project duration.
